Rental Rules and FAQ

Rules & Policy


  • Any photos of boats on our site are representative of the boats we offer and not the actual boats.  
  • Our rental boats are all in excellent working condition, but as the rental season progresses there will be wear and tear that occurs. If any boat in our rental fleet has significant damage or is a condition we deem unsatisfactory, we will remove it from the fleet.  


  • Any fuel used during rental time will be charged to the renter’s credit card. The boat will have a full tank of gas at the beginning of the rental.
  • We'd appreciate it if you refueled at Seager Marine in the event you need additional gas during your rental.  We will fill it up when you return the boat.


  • We provide life jackets for children and adults. We do not provide infant life jackets.
  • We do not provide life jackets used for water sports.  You must bring your own or you can rent/buy from Seager's.
  • We do not allow cooking/grilling on the boats.
  • Please, No Smoking on Boats.
  • We provide a safety and craft walk-through prior to each rental.
  • We are not allowing renters to tow any tubes or other equipment on the 2017 pontoons at this time. 

Age Limit

  • You must be 25 to rent/drive with a valid driver’s license.


  • Sorry, no pets are allowed on the rentals.


  • Any boats returned that require extraordinary cleaning will incur an additional $50 cleaning fee.


  • Reservations require a $100.00 deposit to guarantee the date for daily rentals and $500 for weekly (5+ days). Cancellations not related to weather (see below) result in a loss of your deposit.
  • We require a $500 security deposit on a credit card at the time of rental.
  • A credit card is required to reserve a boat.


  • Rental is for Canandaigua Lake Only

Damage and Liability

  • Renter is responsible for any and all damage that occurs during their rental time.

Overnight Rentals 

  • It is your responsibility to ensure the boat can be moored safely overnight.  We will ask for and require proof!  If you’re renting property on the lake, check with the property owner or management company to see if you can keep a boat overnight.  We can assist with this process if necessary.

  • We do not permit nighttime navigation. Any overnight rental needs to be safely moored/docked by sunset.  

Weather & Cancellations

  • Unfortunately, we can’t control the weather. The ultimate decision is ours whether it's safe or enjoyable to go out on the water. We use common sense; if it's going to be raining all day, then your deposit will be refunded.  If it's cloudy and cool, but safe to go out on the water, we consider it a "boat" day and your deposit will be kept in the event you don't show up or want to cancel.  Our goal is to be reasonable and fair, but that works both ways. 
  • We have a 72 hour cancellation policy. If you cancel after that period, then your deposit will not be refunded. 
  • Seager Marine reserves the right to cancel any reservation due to bad weather or other safety concerns
